I was supposed to be done composing by now so I could focus on editing and polishing and all that stuff, but I'm a terrible procrastinator and this is what I get for it. Rehearsals for the showcase (May 19th at York St John Uni. put it in your diary!) started in February and I'm still writing the music. It's only a baby musical (maybe 6 full songs + reprises, though I have a list of songs I'll add once my MA is safely out of the way.), but it's teaching me a lot about writing to narrative and character and watching how the story morphs from Tori (the script writer)'s original short into a more rounded whole is a lot of fun.
BUT to those of you asking when I'll be gigging again: the answer is soon! April 15th in fact, I'll be supporting Birdman Rallies at the Fulford Arms (listen to their new album below). Simon Bolley will be joining me again on drums (yay!) and we had our first band practice yesterday - I haven't gigged since last September and it feels so good to be gearing up for one again.
